About Us

Performing Musicals and Operettas in Stourbridge in the West Midlands since 1909

Stourbridge Amateur Operatic Society has, as you will see from the list of previous shows, performed an array of musicals and operettas. In more recent years it has become renowned for staging the more modern musicals, including Fame, A Chorus Line, Footloose and Our House which it has been able to do because of its youthful membership and its passion for energetic and fast-moving shows. However, the classics such as Anything Goes, West Side Story, Guys and Dolls, Oliver! and Pirates of Penzance still make an appearance.

The Society is a registered charity but makes donations each year to local charities from the proceeds of the shows it produces. Charitable donations within the last five years have totalled £4,750, with the most recent recipients including the County Air Ambulance, Mary Stevens Hospice, Georgina Unit (Russells Hall), Dudley Olympics & Multiple Sclerosis.

"Being a part of SAOS is like having an extended family and where life long friendships are made. We laugh, we cry, we grow together and most of all have lots of fun" - Anna Hough, SAOS Member
